Honoring God's Sacred Moon

Genesis 1:14 says God created the lights in the sky as "signs and seasons." The full moon is one of God's most powerful signs — a time of completion, gratitude, release, and divine illumination. Here are sacred full moon rituals for Christian Witches.

The Biblical Foundation

Psalm 104:19 declares: "He made the moon to mark the seasons." God intentionally created the moon as a spiritual calendar. Honoring the moon is honoring the Creator who made it.

Full Moon Ritual 1: The Gratitude Circle

You need: White or gold candles, paper, pen, a bowl of water

Ritual: Set up your altar under moonlight if possible. Light your candles. Write 10 things you are grateful for. Read them aloud to God. Place the paper in the bowl of water as an offering of gratitude. Pray Psalm 136 — the great thanksgiving psalm.

Full Moon Ritual 2: The Release Ceremony

You need: Black candle, paper, pen, fireproof bowl

Ritual: Write everything you want to release — fear, debt, toxic relationships, illness, bad habits. Read it aloud and declare: "I release this to God. It no longer has power over me." Safely burn the paper. Pray Isaiah 43:18-19 — "Forget the former things; I am doing a new thing."

Full Moon Ritual 3: Moon Water Blessing

You need: Glass jar, clean water, moonlight

Ritual: Fill the jar with water. Pray Psalm 23 over it. Set it outside or on a windowsill to charge in the moonlight overnight. Use this blessed moon water to anoint yourself, water your plants, cleanse your home, or add to potions.

Full Moon Ritual 4: The Prophetic Dream Ritual

You need: Purple candle, lavender oil, journal

Ritual: Anoint your temples with lavender oil. Light the purple candle. Pray Acts 2:17 — "Your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams." Ask God to speak to you in your dreams tonight. Keep your journal by your bed to record what you receive.

"The moon marks the sacred seasons God set in motion at creation. When I honor the moon, I honor the One who made it." — Sister Luna
